WINTERJAZZ IN SPACE
January 7th – 12th 2022

cooperation w/ NICA

The 11th edition of the “Winterjazz Köln” festival, which was to take place from January 7 to 8, 2022 in cooperation with the NICA artist development program in Stadtgarten Köln, unfortunately had to be canceled due to the current Corona situation. Since then, work has been going full steam ahead to make the music of the program audible to the public in its freshness and spirit of exploration despite the circumstances.

This resulted in the new webisode series “Winter Jazz in Space“, which will feature a total of 6 broadcasts of 3 bands each from January 7-12, 2022 on www.stadtgarten.de and the Stadtgarten’s Facebook channels. The premiere will take place on the first day actually scheduled for the festival, Friday, January 7, at 8 pm.

Cancelled: Winterjazz 2022 January 7th & 8th

30.12.2021

Our heart is heavy – unfortunately we announce today the cancellation of the 11th edition of “Winterjazz Köln”.

We had planned for January 7 and 8, 2022 (for the first time together with NICA artist development) a total of 20 concerts on three stages by about 65 musicians* with exciting new projects and bands for you. However, considering the current Corona situation, we think it is not sustainable to organize a festival in this size.

A lot of joy, heart and soul and countless hours have gone into the preparation, but your health, the health of our team and the health of the artists has the highest priority for us in any case.

“Winterjazz Köln” lives from togetherness on site: experiencing together, discovering anew and being surprised. To let such a festival take place in these times does not feel right to us.

Currently we are working at full speed to make the music of the program audible for the audience in its freshness and spirit of exploration despite the circumstances. Of course we will let you know directly if there are any news.

come back later + stay tuned for what winterjazz is cooking! (and a very happy new year to you)

Angelika Niescier, Ulla Oster, Kornelia Vossebein – artistic direction
